The Book of Titus // Hope // Tyler Hartford

Apostle Paul ends his letter to Titus with perhaps one of the most beautiful and compelling descriptions of the Trinity at work. He closes out with the answer for the “blessed hope” that so many people await. God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit desires for each of us to thrive and experience eternal life. Not just life beyond the grave, but life in the here and now. Do our neighbors, family members, and co-workers desire the hope that we have? Are you not only willing to let the Holy Spirit “wash” you but also “renew” you? Let’s explore the hope of Jesus Christ together!

Are we living in community with others? Does our faith extend beyond the Sunday Event? At the heart of Paul’s letter to Titus, we have a challenge for various generations to be in relationship with each other. Are we aligned with others who have walked the path we’re on? Perhaps one of the greatest assets one might have is a relationship with others who speak truth in love into our lives. Where is God calling us to mentor others or be under a healthy role model? Deceitful ideas feed our disordered desires but this does not need to lead to the normalization of sin. Instead, discipline your desires, curb some of your wants and cultivate others and experience the ability to resist the enemies of your soul. Because every action has a reaction and the reaction is always disproportionate to the action. Small compromises turn into big consequences. Conversely, seemingly insignificant acts of good have a way of turning into unexpected, oversized blessings.
